Are you a former employee of Nortel who is losing your NNI Long Term Disability (LTD) benefits due to Nortel’s pending bankruptcy?  Several of us have banded together and hired a Delaware lawyer to represent us in a class action suit.  We need to get as many people as possible who are like us, former employees of Nortel who left on Long-Term Disability, to join in this suit. 

Most of us anticipated that we would have these benefits until retiring age.  But we had the rug jerked out from under us when we found out that Nortel’s disability insurance plan was self-funded.  That meant that if Nortel went bankrupt, the company no long had any obligation to continue to pay these benefits.

We have a number of things in our favor.  Nortel may have filed Chapter 7, but they have an estimated figure of over $1B on hand which will ultimately go to pay creditors.  We need to make sure that we are strongly represented as one of those groups of creditors!
